About the role

The Opportunity

We are seeking a hands-on Controller to lead financial operations across a growing property management and construction portfolio.

This role offers full ownership of the accounting function across multiple entities, with direct exposure to leadership. You’ll play a key role in driving financial visibility, improving processes, and supporting long-term business planning in a dynamic, fast-growing environment.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

  • Oversee full-cycle accounting (A/P, A/R, GL, reconciliations) across multiple entities
  • Lead month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
  • Prepare and review financial statements in accordance with GAAP
  • Ensure accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial data
  • Monitor cash flow, financial performance, and key KPIs

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead budgeting and forecasting processes
  • Perform variance analysis and provide actionable insights
  • Conduct cost, margin, and profitability analysis
  • Build financial models and reporting tools to support growth

Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Ensure compliance with GAAP and federal/provincial regulations (tax, payroll, filings)
  • Establish and strengthen internal controls, policies, and procedures
  • Oversee expense management and corporate spending policies

Leadership & Strategic Support

  • Act as a key financial partner to leadership
  • Provide insights to support operational and strategic decisions
  • Manage relationships with external partners (accountants, banks, insurers, advisors)
  • Drive process improvements, automation, and system enhancements

Payroll & Operations

  • Oversee and process payroll in compliance with Quebec regulations
  • Review and approve employee expenses and reimbursements
  • Support ongoing operational improvements and efficiencies

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
  • Experience managing full-cycle accounting across multiple entities
  • Proficiency with QuickBooks or similar accounting systems
  • Advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills
  • Highly detail-oriented with strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Ability to prioritize and operate in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
