Controls Project Engineer (PLC) - Service Projects
Vanderlande
About the role
About
Would you like to progress your career in a dynamic, rewarding and market‑leading environment? If the answer is “yes”, then look no further than Vanderlande! We'll give you the opportunity to work with our inspiring and talented experts on world‑class projects – while growing your network, broadening your experience and expanding your horizons.
Responsibilities
- After your onboarding, where you learned our Engineering way of working, your first project could be to support a Sales Engineer with a modification project to expand an existing system. Fitting the additional equipment into an existing building and system is not always obvious, and the system is live, so phasing and logistics are important.
- After the design you create in close cooperation with a Sales Engineer is ordered by the customer, you set up the detailed engineering and specifications so that Vanderlande can start manufacturing the system.
- Design and program PLC controls meeting high‑quality demands on a project basis.
- During the commissioning phase, carry out functional testing of the PLC hardware and software and integrate them into the overall control system.
- Perform regular on‑site work to commission control and transport systems.
- Work with multidisciplinary engineering teams and, when required, perform complete controls engineering independently.
- Support multiple leads and projects in execution simultaneously.
- Resolve unexpected issues in live environments together with the team to ensure installation and commissioning are completed on time.
- Create “impossible engineering” solutions for warehousing projects.
Requirements
- This vacancy is for both junior and more senior engineers.
- Successfully completed education at HBO (higher vocational education) level in Mechatronics, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Automation, Computer Science or Controls Technology.
- At least 3 years’ experience in a comparable position.
- Knowledge of and experience in PLC applications (Siemens S7) STEP7, TIA Portal and older Siemens PLCs.
- Familiarity with network topologies such as Profinet, AS‑i bus and older topologies such as Profibus.
- Willingness to work regularly for extended periods in other countries (up to 35 % of your time).
- Good command of the English language; Dutch is preferred.
- Driving licence.
Benefits
- Competitive salary range of €4 900,00 – €6 200,00 per month (excluding 8 % holiday allowance) with a comprehensive travel allowance; performance‑based growth possible beyond this scale.
- 40 vacation days (20 statutory days and a flexible budget worth 20 days).
- Flexible working hours.
- Hybrid workplace (40 % working from home and 60 % in the office).
- Health & Wellbeing budget worth €300 per calendar year.
- Commuting allowance, including full reimbursement of travel by public transport.
- Working‑from‑home allowance.
- Collective pension scheme and discount on additional health insurance.
- On‑site company health centres with a gym, physiotherapists and occupational therapists.
- Vanderlande Academy and training facilities to boost your skills.
- Access to Vanderlande Network communities and initiatives.
- Company restaurant and coffee bar with barista service.
