About the Role

The Senior Specialist, Accounting supports the accuracy and consistency of the organization's financial records, with primary responsibility for general ledger activities, accounts payable oversight, and month‑end close support. This role contributes directly to reliable financial reporting, strong internal controls, and the continuous enhancement of accounting processes.

This position is well‑suited for someone who is detail‑focused, independent, and improvement‑oriented, with the ability to evaluate existing workflows, resolve discrepancies, and recommend practical solutions. The role partners closely with cross‑functional teams and provides critical support to management in maintaining compliance and reporting quality.

Key Responsibilities

General Ledger & Transaction Oversight

  • Prepare and review journal entries to ensure accurate posting across the general ledger.
  • Review transactions originating from accounts payable and other sub‑ledgers, researching and resolving discrepancies as needed.
  • Investigate accounting issues at the transaction level and apply appropriate resolutions in alignment with accounting standards.

Reconciliations & Close Support

  • Prepare and review monthly balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring timely resolution of reconciling items.
  • Actively support month‑end, quarter‑end, and year‑end close processes to meet reporting deadlines.
  • Identify recurring issues during the close cycle and work toward long‑term resolution.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist with the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial reporting, including audited financial statements.
  • Support variance analysis activities, including Actual‑to‑Budget comparisons and FP&A reporting needs.

Accounts Payable & Expense Controls

  • Review and reconcile corporate credit card and expense activity, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and proper documentation.
  • Support the purchase order lifecycle, including annual roll‑forward of open POs aligned with approved budgets.
  • Partner with Accounts Payable stakeholders to improve efficiency and consistency within AP and expense processes.

Tax, Compliance & Internal Controls

  • Assist with tax compliance requirements and preparation of supporting documentation for required filings.
  • Support control activities to ensure compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Document finance policies, procedures, and workflows to strengthen controls and reduce key‑person risk.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and accuracy improvements across accounting operations.

Projects & Cross‑Functional Support

  • Participate in special projects, system initiatives, and cross‑functional efforts as needed.
  • Provide flexible support to the Finance team based on evolving organizational priorities.
