Staff Accountant

About

This is a long term contract opportunity for a global Consumer Packaged Goods company seeking a Staff Accountant. This role will report to an Accounting Manager and work on day-to-day GL accounting. The role will also be responsible for preparation of balance sheet accounts reconciliation and income statement flux analysis, managing payment status for state and local taxes, and working on complex accounting projects within an international multicurrency environment.

Rate is flexible depending on experience ($70-90/hr)

This is 2-3 days onsite in the office in El Segundo

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Prepare and record asset, liability, revenue, and expenses entries by compiling and analyzing financial transactions and records
• Maintain and balance accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions and resolving discrepancies
• Maintain the general ledger by reviewing trial balance and preparing reconciling entries
• Participate in general ledger accounting, including month end close, prepaids, expense accruals, flux analysis and reporting
• Assist with the identification and improvement of controls and processes
• Summarize financial status by collecting information
• Assist in the preparation of the balance sheet, profit and loss, and other statements
• Assist with external audits by analyzing and scheduling general ledger accounts; prepare information for auditors
• Provide support in complex accounting projects and initiatives with other members of the accounting and finance team or with management
• Collaborate with internal and external departments to support company objectives and key results (OKRs)
• Ad hoc responsibilities and reports as needed

QUALIFICATIONS

• BS degree in accounting or finance required
• Must possess knowledge of GAAP
• Familiarity working in a SOX environment
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills, with experience in the heavy use of Pivot Tables
• Strong analytical and organizational skills
• Proactive and deadline oriented
• Excellent communication skills to all levels
• Comfortable in a fast-paced environment
• Collaboration in a team-oriented environment is a crucial component for this role
• Able to work independently.
