Cost Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to support manufacturing finance operations at a production site. This role is responsible for cost analysis, inventory validation, and financial reporting, ensuring accuracy in product costing and compliance with accounting standards. The position works closely with finance leadership and cross-functional teams to support operational and financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and monitor the work order closure process
• Perform month-end close activities related to cost accounting
• Review and enter daily production and consumption data
• Validate inventory cycle counts (raw materials, WIP, finished goods) and maintain audit documentation
• Ensure compliance with inventory counting frequency and accuracy standards
• Monitor inventory processes, including documentation, approvals, and tracking
• Analyze manufacturing cost variances and identify discrepancies in bills of materials (BOM) and routings
• Maintain and update standard costs for raw materials and intermediate products
• Ensure integrity of costing data and accounting flows
• Assist in annual budgeting and cost rate development
• Prepare monthly and quarterly financial reports
• Support additional finance-related tasks as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience in Cost Accounting or Manufacturing Finance
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
• Strong experience with ERP systems (Sage, JDE preferred)
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas)
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines

Preferred Skills

• Experience in a manufacturing or production environment
• Knowledge of inventory accounting and cost control processes
• Familiarity with standard costing methodologies
