Position Description & Qualifications
The Counter UAS Analyst provides direct staff‑level support to Joint Interagency Task Force (JIATF) 401 Counter‑Unmanned Aircraft Systems (cUAS) operations. This role supports planning, coordination, analysis, and execution‑level activities across air and/or surface domains in support of Department of Defense and interagency cUAS missions. The position operates within a Component‑level or Numbered Air Force (NAF) or Service‑equivalent headquarters environment and contributes to joint and interagency operational processes.
The individual integrates into a high‑tempo staff environment, producing timely and accurate staff products, coordinating across multiple stakeholders, and maintaining situational awareness of evolving cUAS operational, policy, and threat considerations. This role requires sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to manage multiple concurrent staff actions while maintaining alignment with leadership intent.
In This Role, You Will
- Provide daily operational, planning, and coordination support to JIATF 401 cUAS staff.
- Develop, review, and staff cUAS‑related products, including briefing materials, point papers, staff summary sheets, CONOPS/CONEMP inputs, RFIs, and formal tasking responses.
- Coordinate and synchronize cUAS activities across joint, interagency, and Service elements.
- Track staff actions, taskers, and suspense items; provide status updates to leadership as required.
- Support planning efforts related to air and/or surface operations with emphasis on unmanned aircraft systems and counter‑UAS mission sets.
- Deliver operational insights and analysis related to UAS threats, mitigation tactics, and employment considerations.
- Participate in working groups, planning sessions, and coordination meetings supporting cUAS operations and policy development.
- Maintain situational awareness of relevant DoD, Joint, and interagency cUAS policies, guidance, and emerging operational considerations.
- Apply staff processes consistent with Numbered Air Force or Service‑level headquarters operations.
- Operate as part of a small, high‑tempo staff.
- Integrate quickly into established staff workflows and command processes.
- Work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining alignment with leadership intent.
- Exercise sound judgment when handling sensitive operational and planning information.
To Be Successful In This Role, You Will Have
- Active DoD Secret clearance and the ability to obtain a TS/SCI.
- Associates Degree
- 3 years of DoD staff experience at a Numbered Air Force (NAF), Joint, or Service‑equivalent headquarters staff.
- Minimum of 5 years of operational experience in either the air or surface domain.
- Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) or Counter‑UAS (cUAS) operations, planning, analysis, or staff functions.
Additional Desired Skills And Experience
- Experience operating in joint and/or interagency operational environments.
- General understanding of UAS employment concepts, threat systems, and counter‑UAS operational considerations.
- Familiarity with DoD staff processes, task management, and headquarters‑level planning cycles.
- Working knowledge of joint operations and staff coordination processes.
- Ability to analyze operational issues and translate them into clear, concise staff products for senior military and civilian leadership.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel for staff product development.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and suspenses in a fast‑paced headquarters environment.
