Credit & Pricing Analyst

Communicate IT

South Africa · On-site Full-time Mid Level R400k – R550k/yr 1w ago

About the role

About

Build models that directly impact profitability and real lives. Work on high‑scale financial and credit systems across multiple African markets. A rare analyst role where data drives real‑world decisions, not slide decks.

My client is looking for a Credit & Pricing Analyst who wants to sit at the center of commercial decision‑making and own the analytical engine behind pricing and credit strategy.

This is not a passive reporting role. You’ll design, refine, and own models that influence profitability, credit risk, and growth across several operating countries. Your work will directly shape pricing, underwriting, and commission structures, with clear visibility of P&L impact.

You’ll analyse large, diverse datasets to improve automated credit scoring and risk models, forecast repayment behaviour and portfolio losses, and explore new analytical approaches that unlock better customer and business outcomes. Analysts here are expected to go beyond spreadsheets, understanding second‑order effects, engaging with operational teams, and driving real change.

If you enjoy combining strong technical depth with commercial ownership, this role offers rare exposure, responsibility, and impact at scale.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 2–5 years’ experience in credit risk, pricing, data science, or a similar analytical role
  • Strong SQL skills for data extraction and analysis
  • Advanced proficiency in Python or R for modelling, statistical analysis, and visualisation
  • Experience building or maintaining credit scorecards, pricing models, or financial forecasts
  • Solid understanding of credit risk, portfolio performance, and P&L drivers
  • Strong problem‑solving ability with a commercial, outcome‑focused mindset
  • Ability to explain complex quantitative insights to non‑technical stakeholders
  • Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast‑moving environments

Qualification

  • Bachelor’s or Honours degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Data Science, Mathematics, or a related quantitative field
