About This Job

The Critical Facilities Engineering Manager provides operational, technical, and strategic oversight of critical infrastructure across an account portfolio of approximately 3.0 million square feet of Class A office and data center space. This role focuses on maintaining 100% uptime of facility electrical, mechanical, life safety, and critical back-up systems while ensuring operational continuity is never compromised. The position requires strong client relationship management, critical engineering expertise, and team leadership capabilities to manage all resources within client and JLL policies. The successful candidate will balance strategic planning with hands-on technical oversight, managing KPIs and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and cost savings.

Your day-to-day tasks will include:

  • Establishing and maintaining critical environment guidelines, processes, and procedures for work authorization, incident management, and routine operations to ensure 100% uptime across all facilities
  • Collaborating with project management to develop client scope of work documents, formulate preventative maintenance programs, and deliver projects with minimal disruption to building services
  • Reviewing and evaluating facility performance on a continuing basis using established guidelines, metrics, and industry benchmarks to ensure portfolio meets or exceeds goal parameters
  • Recognizing system shortcomings and responding immediately to operational and emergency situations involving critical facilities systems and equipment
  • Providing training, support, and guidance to expand team capabilities and ensure technical staff performs work appropriately with proper compliance and life/safety program adherence
  • Managing CMMS and work order operations across all facilities to ensure on-time preventative maintenance and reactive work completion according to client and best practice standards
  • Participating in annual planning activities including financial planning for operating expenses and capital, identifying cost savings opportunities, and supporting emergency expenditure decisions throughout the year

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Work environment includes Class A office buildings and data center facilities
  • Must be able to respond to operational and emergency situations as they arise
  • Role requires oversight of approximately 3.0 million square feet of critical infrastructure

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities, or related discipline
  • 10+ years of experience in facility/plant engineering and maintenance supervision
  • Data center engineering and design and/or operating experience
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams in a decentralized environment with proven delivery capability
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with excellent interpersonal and relationship building abilities
  • Computer proficiency with MS Office, Word, and Excel
  • Proven record of providing excellent internal and external customer service

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with critical environment operations and maintenance process and procedures
  • Knowledge of commissioning procedures including collection, distribution, and storage of documentation
  • Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) operations
  • Understanding of industry benchmarks and performance metrics for critical facilities
  • Experience with financial planning for operating expenses and capital projects
  • Background in developing and implementing cost savings and value-add opportunities
  • Knowledge of life/safety programs and compliance requirements for critical environments
