We are looking for someone to support mission‑critical infrastructure for high‑profile Federal Government customers. The opportunity is based in Washington, DC. The selected candidate must be within commuting distance. The role requires full on‑site presence during the first 90 days, with a potential for a flexible hybrid schedule thereafter, subject to customer needs.

Pay Range: $87,100.00 – $157,450.00
The Opportunity
As a technical lead and trusted advisor, you will take ownership of on‑premises infrastructure supporting critical government missions. Your responsibilities will span the complete systems lifecycle—architecture, implementation, sustainment, optimization, and compliance—to guarantee secure and high‑performing infrastructure operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the primary technical steward for mission‑critical on‑premises server and storage infrastructure.
- Architect, implement, document, and sustain enterprise infrastructure supporting file and application servers.
- Design and maintain highly available VMware environments and NetApp SAN solutions, including SnapMirror configurations.
- Ensure compliance with configuration baselines, vulnerability remediation standards, backup/recovery objectives, and system availability targets.
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for government stakeholders, building strong relationships.
- Capture, manage, and translate customer requirements into actionable technical solutions.
- Implement and maintain systems in line with federal IT security policies and enterprise standards.
- Prepare for and support security audits, inspections, and continuous monitoring activities.
- Proactively identify risks and drive remediation efforts to uphold a robust cybersecurity posture.
- Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance operational efficiency and mission continuity.
- Support maintenance windows and occasional after‑hours activities to prevent any mission disruption.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years of systems engineering experience, or a Master’s degree with 2+ years of experience (additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree).
- U.S. Citizenship required.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Top Secret security clearance.
- Proven experience in customer‑facing technical roles.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving capabilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated accountability and attention to detail in resolving complex technical issues.
- Technical expertise with:
- VMware (design, configuration, deployment, high availability).
- NetApp SAN administration, including SnapMirror.
- Windows Server and RHEL Linux administration.
- Vulnerability remediation tools such as Nessus.
- Configuration management best practices and tools.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with enterprise backup technologies (NetBackup, Commvault, etc.).
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Git or similar).
- Experience supporting AWS and/or Azure environments.
- Experience with monitoring and endpoint management tools (Nagios, BigFix BES, etc.).
- Ability to develop high‑level infrastructure and network architecture diagrams.
