About the role
About
We're working with a leading technology powerhouse that creates the digital foundation for Europe's digital freedom. They are responsible for the IT infrastructure of major retail divisions and production companies, while also acting as an independent provider supporting companies across Europe in their digital transformation with core services in Cloud, Cyber Security, Data & AI, Communication, and Workspace.
The Role
- Strategically define, communicate, and evolve group-wide guidelines for backup and archiving security, considering regulatory requirements (e.g., ISO 27001, NIS 2, BSI IT-Grundschutz), best practices, and technological developments.
- Enforce guidelines in close collaboration with central IT infrastructure units across the entire corporate group through joint development of solutions/services and reference architectures in Backup & Archiving, for example, for data segregation, immutable storage, or secure key management.
- Define and monitor policy compliance using clearly defined KPIs and control mechanisms in data backup and archiving.
- Identify and manage improvement potentials, risks, and possible synergy effects in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
- Advise and enable other Cyber Security units and IT Infrastructure teams as a technology expert for Backup & Archiving, particularly regarding recovery concepts.
Requirements
- A degree in Computer Science, IT Security, or a comparable qualification.
- Fluent communication in German (C2-level) and English (B2-level).
- Deep understanding of enterprise backup technologies (e.g., NetBackup, Azure Backup), storage architectures (On-Prem, Cloud, Hybrid), retention schedules, and Data Lifecycle Management.
- Fundamental understanding of encryption standards, secure key management, and secure data transfer methods in backup and archiving processes.
- Experience in developing and evaluating secure backup and archiving architectures and deployed solutions/tools.
- Methodical and structured work approach to continuously question processes and solutions, identify risks and potential attack vectors (e.g., ransomware), and enforce measures to reduce them.
