Position Overview
Serco is looking for a dedicated Cyber Security Systems Engineer/Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our Distributed Mission Operations Center Infrastructure Development and Engineering (DMOC-IDE) team. This critical role involves securing systems that support simulation software, network infrastructure, and Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO). You will play a vital part in implementing cybersecurity policies, conducting risk assessments, and supporting system certification and accreditation efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct essential systems engineering elements to fulfill program requirements.
- Assist in designing and developing system security architectures using tools such as Ansible, Splunk, and ACAS.
- Define necessary capabilities and performance requirements.
- Conduct detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to transform customer requirements into hardware and software security specifications.
- Understand and protect system interfaces effectively.
- Ensure product requirements are integrated into overall systems solutions while considering technical, timeline, and cost constraints.
- Modify existing products to cater to unique customer needs and contribute to system security functions.
- Support technical deliverables from the engineering team, participating in design reviews and integration and testing as needed.
- Present tailored solutions to clients and senior management based on the audience.
- Manage and maintain key security software such as Splunk, ACAS, and Nessus.
- Assist the ISSM in preparing assessments and maintaining ATO to meet JSIG requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or related discipline along with 5 years of relevant experience in information security pertaining to DoD systems.
- Active DoD Secret Security clearance is required.
- Ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to start.
- Experience in assessing systems and networks to identify deviations from acceptable configurations as defined in NIST SP 800-53 r5 for system accreditation under RMF.
- Proven experience in conducting thorough assessments of management, operational, and technical security controls in DoD IT systems.
- Capability to develop and maintain Cybersecurity artifacts for ongoing system accreditation.
- Experience in conducting comprehensive technology research to identify potential vulnerabilities and suggest risk mitigation strategies.
- Knowledge of System Engineering related to DoD Platforms, Sensors, and Sub-systems.
- Familiarity with requirement development, derivation, validation, and verification.
- Minimum Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification.

- Pursued technical leadership roles.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with experience in making technical presentations to various stakeholders.
- IAT Level III certification is a plus.
- Willingness to travel occasionally within the continental United States (at least 10%).
