Your role and responsibilities

As a Cybersecurity Compliance Analyst Trainee, you will play a vital role in supporting the CIO Government IT organization by combining your technical writing skills with a foundational understanding of security and compliance principles. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience in federal IT environments while contributing to crucial compliance and security initiatives.

In your role, you will:

  • Assist in drafting, reviewing, and publishing compliance documentation.
  • Compile, analyze, and report security and compliance metrics.
  • Collaborate with various teams to enhance policies and procedures.
  • Support senior architects with diagrams and presentations.
  • Learn and apply NIST SP 800-171 requirements in relation to CMMC Level 2.
  • Organize meetings, capture notes, and help track action items to completion.

The IBM Apprenticeship Program is recognized by the Department of Labor (DOL) and offers a structured path for your career development. During your apprenticeship, you will complete designated learning hours and on-the-job training tailored to help you acquire the essential skills for this role. Most apprentices can expect to complete their apprenticeship within 12 months, after which you'll receive a DOL nationally-recognized credential and have the opportunity to apply for full-time positions at IBM.

Required technical and professional expertise

  • A commitment to fulfilling the apprenticeship program requirements.
  • A High School Diploma or GED.
  • Some knowledge or experience in:
    • General networking and infrastructure fundamentals.
    • Governance, Risk, & Compliance basics.

Preferred qualifications

  • An Associate's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field is preferred.
