Your Role and Responsibilities

We are seeking a Cybersecurity Engineer to support the Army Edge Computing Capability (AECC) project. This initiative involves a containerized, Kubernetes-based environment that hosts Army enterprise and tactical applications. As an integral member of the ALTESS team, you will help secure Kubernetes infrastructure across multiple locations globally. Your expertise will play a crucial role in ensuring the security of the managed services provided for Army applications.

Position Duties:

  • Deploy, configure, and manage Kubernetes security tools such as vulnerability scanners and compliance frameworks.
  • Implement and enforce robust security controls to protect Kubernetes clusters and workloads.
  • Conduct scanning for container images and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.
  • Monitor security events and incidents utilizing SIEM tools and runtime security solutions.
  • Incorporate security measures into CI/CD pipelines, working in partnership with DevOps teams for secure application deployments.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and Army cybersecurity stakeholders to ensure compliance and assist in ongoing security operations.

Required Technical and Professional Expertise

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A proven track record in securing Kubernetes clusters and containerized applications.
  • Proficiency in utilizing Kubernetes security tools and container scanning software.
  • Experience with IaC security and DevSecOps practices, including integration into CI/CD.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of security controls and compliance frameworks.
  • Experience with SIEM tools, threat detection systems, and automation tools.

Certifications and Clearances:

  • Active DoD 8140 Cybersecurity ISSM certification or similar.
  • Baseline security certification as per DoD Instruction 8570.01-M (such as Security+ CE).
  • Ability to obtain a computing environment certification within six months of hire.

Preferred Technical and Professional Experience

  • Familiarity with DoD STIGs and IA Vulnerability Management.
  • Basic understanding of DOD Risk Management Framework Assessment & Authorization.
