About the Role

Serco is looking for a Cybersecurity Systems Engineer / Information Systems Security Engineer (ISSE) to join our 705th CTS Distributed Mission Operations Center Infrastructure Development and Engineering (DMOC-IDE) team. This critical role is pivotal in securing systems that support simulation software, network infrastructure, and Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) Distributed Mission Operations (DMO). You will ensure effective cybersecurity policy implementation, conduct essential risk assessments, and support system certification and accreditation activities.

Responsibilities

  • Perform key systems engineering elements to meet program requirements.
  • Assist in designing and developing system security architectures using tools such as Ansible, Splunk, and ACAS.
  • Define key capabilities and performance requirements.
  • Conduct detailed trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to help translate customer needs into security-specific hardware and software specifications.
  • Develop an understanding of system interfaces and methods to secure them.
  • Ensure product requirements integrate into comprehensive system solutions while considering technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Modify existing products to address unique customer needs and support the development of system security functions.
  • Contribute to the technical outputs of the broader engineering team, participating in design reviews and integration and testing activities as necessary.
  • Present tailored solutions to clients and senior management based on audience needs.
  • Manage and maintain essential security software (e.g., Splunk, ACAS, Nessus, etc.).
  • Assist the ISSM in preparation for assessments and maintaining Authorization to Operate (ATO) in compliance with JSIG requirements.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline, along with 5 years of experience in information security pertaining to DoD systems.
  • An active DoD Secret Security clearance.
  • The capability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP) prior to starting.
  • Experience performing assessments of systems and networks within the environment or enclave to identify deviations from acceptable configurations as defined in NIST SP 800-53 r5 to support system accreditation under RMF.
  • Experience conducting comprehensive assessments of operational, management, and technical security controls within DoD IT systems to determine their overall effectiveness.
  • Experience developing and maintaining Cybersecurity artifacts to support ongoing system accreditation.
  • Experience researching technology to identify potential vulnerabilities in cyberspace systems, providing risk mitigation recommendations.
  • Knowledge of System Engineering practices for DoD-based Platforms, Sensors, and/or Sub-systems.
  • Familiarity with requirements development, derivation, and validation or verification.
  • Minimum Information Assurance Technician (IAT) Level II certification.

Preferred Additional Experience and Skills

  • Experience with hardware design, verification, and testing.
  • Background in cross-domain environments.
  • Experience collaborating with Government agencies.
  • Prior experience in technical leadership roles.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, particularly in making technical presentations to internal and external audiences.
  • IAT Level III certification.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally CONUS (at least 10%).
