Maximus is on the lookout for an experienced Cybersecurity Technical Lead to enhance our support for a critical contract with a Homeland Security customer. In this pivotal role, you will provide innovative and strategic leadership in cybersecurity, ensuring the protection of mission-critical systems. We seek a hands-on expert in cybersecurity, risk management, and compliance, who also possesses strong team leadership skills. This role requires candidates to be located within commuting distance to Annapolis Junction, MD, and participate in an on-call rotation for operational support.
This position is on-site, requiring full participation five days a week, and candidates must possess an active secret clearance.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary cybersecurity expert for the contract, ensuring strict adherence to Homeland Security policies and protocols.
- Design and implement effective cybersecurity strategies, frameworks, and policies aimed at strengthening the security of vital systems.
- Manage security risk assessments, vulnerability management, incident response, and threat intelligence initiatives.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to cybersecurity engineers and analysts to foster their professional development.
- Conduct security architecture reviews and technical assessments to proactively identify and mitigate risks.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that security measures align with business and operational requirements.
- Support ongoing monitoring, security audits, and compliance with regulatory obligations.
- Participate in a rotational schedule to be on-call for security operations and incident response tasks.
- Complete any additional tasks as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
- At least 10 years of experience in cybersecurity, IT security, or related fields.
- An active Secret clearance is mandatory.
- Due to federal regulations, candidates must be US Citizens without dual citizenship.
- This is an on-site position at a government facility.
- Successful candidates must work on-site five days a week in Annapolis Junction, MD.
- Candidates must reside within a commutable distance.
- Availability for a rotational on-call schedule for emergency page-outs is required.
- Strong knowledge of cybersecurity frameworks (e.g., NIST, RMF, FISMA) and industry best practices is essential.
- Demonstrated experience in leading cybersecurity teams and managing significant security projects.
- Practical experience with security tools such as SIEM, IDS/IPS, vulnerability scanners, and endpoint protection solutions.
- Excellent communication and leadership capabilities are necessary, along with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical and executive teams.
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
- CISSP certification is highly preferred (additional certifications such as CISM, CISA, or CEH are advantageous).
- Experience working with Homeland Security or other federal agencies is a plus.
- Knowledge in cloud security (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) is desirable.
- Advanced technical certifications (e.g., CISSP-ISSAP, GIAC, OSCP) are beneficial.

Salary Information:
Minimum Salary: $115,000.00; Maximum Salary: $175,000.00. Our compensation package incorporates various factors, including the job location, your experience, travel requirements, and market analysis.
