Position Summary
Peraton is looking for a talented Cybersecurity Technical Writer to enhance our documentation processes for cybersecurity and classified program operations within a federal government contracting framework. This crucial role involves creating, revising, and publishing high-quality technical documentation essential for mission-critical cybersecurity projects and timely executive reporting.

This position entails producing both classified and unclassified documents, overseeing the document lifecycle, and delivering time-sensitive materials for federal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities • Draft, revise, and sustain technical documentation that supports cybersecurity operations, classified programs, and enterprise IT initiatives. • Operate within a SCIF to create, manage, and release classified materials in compliance with federal security protocols. • Develop and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), process documentation, technical reports, executive presentations, and client deliverables. • Collaborate closely with cybersecurity engineers, analysts, program managers, and government representatives to gather information, translating complex ideas into clear and concise documentation. • Oversee document lifecycle processes including drafting, editing, version management, stakeholder reviews, revisions, and final publication. • Juggle multiple concurrent projects while adhering to tight deadlines and rapid response requirements. • Ensure all documentation meets organizational standards, federal formatting guidelines, classification requirements, and quality assurance processes. • Engage in project meetings and working groups to capture essential requirements and ensure documentation accuracy. • Incorporate insights from leaders, technical reviewers, and clients to continuously enhance deliverables. • Support executive communication and strategic initiatives through the creation of polished written materials. • Uphold strict confidentiality and protect sensitive and classified information per government regulations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, Journalism, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field; equivalent experience may suffice. • 5+ years as a technical writer or in documentation management within a government or highly regulated setting (3 years with an MS/MA; 0 years with a PhD; 9 years with a high school diploma). • Proven ability to produce clear, professional technical and executive-level documentation. • Experience in creating SOPs, operational documents, reports, and customer-facing materials. • Strong knowledge of document lifecycle management, editing protocols, and publication processes. • Able to work effectively under pressure while managing several urgent deliverables. • Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills. • Strong collaboration abilities, comfortably engaging with both technical and non-technical teams. • Meticulously organized with keen attention to detail. • Active TS/SCI or Q/SCI clearance is essential.
Preferred Qualifications • Experience collaborating with the Department of Energy or other federal agencies. • Familiarity with cybersecurity concepts and terminology. • Experience with document management tools such as SharePoint, Confluence, or Adobe Acrobat Pro. • Experience in graphic design or data visualization for executive communications and reports.

Target Salary Range
$86,000 - $138,000. This typical salary range reflects the position's scope, responsibilities, and applicant qualifications, including experience, education, and skills, among other considerations. Employees may also qualify for overtime, shift differentials, and discretionary bonuses in addition to their base salary.
