Job Description
Job Summary:
Join Rockwood Casualty Insurance Company, a part of Argo Group, focusing on workers' compensation insurance for mining, oil & gas, niche specialties, and Main Street businesses. As the Underwriting Data Analyst, you will play a vital role in preparing, analyzing, and distributing critical loss and financial reports that support underwriting, actuarial, finance, and loss control functions. You will produce various reports, including Monthly Large Loss, Large Deductible analyses, and regular calendar reporting. Your insights will help identify trends and drivers, informing key underwriting and financial decisions.
Scope of Work:
Loss Reporting and Analysis:
- Produce and distribute insightful Monthly Large Loss Analysis reports, identifying trends, drivers, and notable loss activity.
- Analyze Large Deductible reports to support underwriting, actuarial, and financial decisions.
- Create Quarterly and Semi-Annual Loss Analysis reports for insureds and agents, focusing on performance trends and loss development.
- Compile Yearly paid-detail loss reports for insureds and agents, ensuring data accuracy and completeness.
Recurring Reporting:
- Deliver Monthly Financial Reports to insureds and agents.
- Generate Calendar Monthly Loss Reports for timely distribution.
- Provide Weekly Loss Reports, ensuring consistent and timely delivery.
- Coordinate efficient reporting schedules to avoid duplication across timeframes.
- Maintain and update payroll report Excel worksheets for audits and analyses.
- Adjust payroll reports as necessary for updated exposures or client-specific needs.
Premium Flash Report Support:
- Act as a backup for preparing and reviewing the Premium Flash Report, ensuring continuity during busy periods.
- Assist in data validation to guarantee accuracy and timeliness.
Data & Power BI Enablement:
- Support initiatives to implement and adopt Power BI effectively throughout the organization.
- Collaborate with the Power BI team to validate and reconcile integrated rate changes and loss control data.
- Serve as a liaison between business users and the Power BI team, clarifying data definitions and reporting needs.
Loss Control Data Support:
- Provide analytics support to the Loss Control team.
- Prepare Monthly Large Loss reports for Loss Control distribution to clients.
Required Technical Skills:
- Strong computer skills and knowledge of claims, auditing & underwriting procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel (including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
- Skilled in Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for effective reporting.
- Proficient in data analysis and financial loss data interpretation.
- Experience with Power BI for report validation and dashboard testing.
- Understanding of data visualization and dashboard design principles.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while working on a computer.
- Frequent use of hands and fingers to operate standard office equipment.
- Aptitude for reading and analyzing information on screens and in printed formats.
- Occasional movement around the office to attend meetings and access materials.
- Able to lift and carry materials up to 10-15 pounds.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through virtual platforms.
