About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytically skilled Data Analyst to join Canada Life’s Canada Operations & Business Enablement, Data Analytics and Reporting team. In this permanent full-time position, you will play a vital role in supporting various operational and strategic initiatives by developing, implementing, and maintaining robust analytics solutions. Your expertise will enable the organization to make informed decisions by transforming complex data into actionable insights. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in data modeling, visualization, and statistical analysis, with the ability to work effectively with large, diverse datasets. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership and cross-functional teams to translate business needs into technical requirements, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and objectives. This role offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to Canada's leading financial services provider by leveraging data to drive performance and innovation.
Qualifications
- 1-3 years of relevant professional experience in data analysis or a related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Finance, or a related discipline
- Proficiency in SQL and Python for data extraction, transformation, and analysis
- Experience working with databases such as SQL Server
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like Azure and Databricks
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Access
- Certification as a Microsoft Power BI Data Analyst (PL-300) is preferred
- Strong skills in Power BI, Data Modeling, Power Query, and DAX
- Ability to develop interactive dashboards and visualizations
- Experience working with large, raw datasets and identifying data discrepancies
- Understanding of statistical modeling and data analytics techniques
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Ability to work independently, learn quickly, and manage multiple priorities
- Knowledge of the Canada Life advisor contracting structure is an asset
- Reliability Status Security Clearance (to be obtained after offer acceptance)
Responsibilities
- Translate business needs into comprehensive data requirements and analytical solutions
- Collect, clean, explore, and analyze large datasets from multiple sources
- Develop, implement, and maintain data models, reports, and dashboards that support business operations
- Work with unstructured or inconsistent data to ensure accuracy and reliability
- Communicate findings and insights clearly to business leaders through visualizations and presentations
- Define, monitor, and optimize key metrics and KPIs aligned with strategic objectives
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and senior leaders to understand business drivers and support decision-making
- Support the entire lifecycle of analytics projects, from initial requirements gathering to deployment and ongoing maintenance
- Automate data pipelines and streamline reporting processes to improve efficiency
- Identify data discrepancies and ensure data integrity across different periods and sources
