About the role

Your Role in the Team

This position is advertised as a hybrid or on-site position at our headquarters in Tutzing (south of Munich).

As part of our growing investments in a modern, scalable finance data infrastructure, we are looking for an experienced Data Analytics Engineer - Finance (m/f/x) for our internal Data & Analytics Department.

This department is part of Lobster's internal Finance and Operations function and is responsible for building, further developing, and continuously improving our internal data infrastructure – including the Finance Data Mart, data pipelines, and analytical models that support financial reporting and decision-making within Lobster DATA.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for building and further developing our Finance Data Mart on a modern dbt + Snowflake stack.
  • Translate complex finance and business requirements into reliable, well-documented data models.
  • Support our CFO and management with KPI reporting and enable high-quality investor reporting for our PE partner.
  • Design and build dbt models across our entire layer architecture (Staging Intermediate Marts Reporting) with clean, tested, and documented transformation logic.
  • Migrate our existing SQL-based data warehouse to Snowflake on AWS, with the Finance Data Mart as the first productive result.
  • End-to-end implementation of our Finance KPI framework, including ARR, NRR, Churn, Subscription Flips, Cloud Margin, and over 65 other defined metrics.
  • Build and maintain data pipelines from our central source systems: Vemas, Datev, HubSpot, and Personio.
  • Directly collaborate with the CFO and the Finance team to translate business requirements into reliable, independently usable data products.
  • Support ad-hoc analyses and in-depth evaluations for PE reporting, where speed and precision are equally important.
  • Reduce individual dependencies in our current processes by replacing manual logic with maintainable, versioned code.

Our Offer

  • A modern, spacious office overlooking Lake Starnberg in Tutzing.
  • Lunch subsidies in our in-house restaurant.
  • A personal training budget.
  • 30 vacation days per year.
  • 2 additional paid days off on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve.
  • Up to 30 days remote work per year from an EU country.
  • Bicycle leasing through our partnership with JobRad.
  • The opportunity to work flexibly from home.
  • Team evenings every Thursday with refreshments at company expense.
  • A company pension plan (bAV).

Technologies and Skills

  • SQL
  • HubSpot
  • AWS
  • Personio
  • DATEV
  • Snowflake

Our Expectations of You:

Qualifications

  • Solid dbt knowledge – you understand layer architectures and why transformation logic belongs in int models and not in dashboards.
  • Strong SQL knowledge, including window functions, CTEs, and performance optimization.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with non-technical stakeholders – translate finance requirements into data models and communicate data decisions understandably to a CFO.
  • Knowledge of common SaaS finance metrics (ARR, NRR, Churn, GRR) – a clear plus.
  • Very good English skills; conversational German skills are a must.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in Analytics Engineering, Data Engineering, or Business Intelligence.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud data warehouse environments such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift.
  • Experience with ERP or billing system data (e.g., Datev) – an advantage.

Benefits

  • Flexible working hours
