Data Center Solutions Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Data Center Solutions Engineer who has a strong background in engineering and installing data center equipment. This role involves tackling complex projects and coordinating various components of data center engineering, including infrastructure, racking systems, cabinets, server and networking equipment, cable distribution, and power management solutions.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; some college or technical school experience is a plus.
• Minimum of 3 years of engineering experience or equivalent field experience in a data center environment.
• BICSI certifications are an advantage.
• Advanced understanding of software applications, particularly MS Word and spreadsheet/database tools such as MS Excel and MS Access.
• Ability to quickly learn customer engineering databases and software.
• Strong multitasking abilities and a talent for meeting strict deadlines.
• Excellent leadership, verbal, and written communication skills.
• Skilled in reading, analyzing, and interpreting complex documents, including technical specifications, data center drawings, and white papers.
• Proficiency in report writing, business correspondence, and creating procedure manuals.

Responsibilities

• Work independently on deadline-driven projects with minimal supervision.
• Interpret site survey data and develop material bills efficiently.
• Conduct and document site surveys as needed.
• Create Bill of Materials and provide firm price quotes.
• Draft complex data center-specific engineering specifications.
• Resolve engineering issues and understand change order procedures and material billing concerns.
• Manage multiple engineering projects concurrently.
• Update customer drawings and databases proficiently.
• Mentor junior engineers on engineering practices and philosophies.
• Interface regularly with customer representatives and internal teams to solve issues.
• Thoroughly understand and apply engineering specifications and quality documents including Installation and Engineering Practices.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by management.

Engineering Skills and Reasoning Ability

• Proficient in logical thinking related to telecommunications installation and engineering.
• Capability to identify problems, gather data, and derive valid solutions.
• Ability to interpret a wide range of technical specifications and convert them into detailed engineering documents.
• Skilled in using common engineering tools effectively.

Physical Demands

• Frequent use of hands for typing, writing, and paperwork tasks (90% of the time).
• Mostly seated at a desk with occasional movement between office areas, and site visits as needed to address customer service issues.
• May require lifting of weights up to 15 pounds occasionally.
• Close vision required for working at a computer and handling documents.
