Data Engineer

We are looking for a talented Data Engineer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to join a fast-growing and dynamic team.

In this role, you will design, build, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures that power data-driven decision-making across the organisation. You’ll work closely with data scientists and analysts to ensure seamless data flow, enabling high-impact insights and innovative solutions.

Responsibilities: Design and build scalable data pipelines and architectures using GCP technologies such as Dataflow, BigQuery, Pub/Sub, and Cloud StorageDevelop and manage robust ETL processes to transform raw data into clean, structured datasetsCollaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand requirements and deliver data solutions that enable insightsCreate and maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, architectures, and data modelsTroubleshoot and resolve data-related issues to ensure minimal disruptionOptimise data pipelines for performance, scalability, and cost efficiencyAutomate workflows and processes to improve operational efficiencyEnsure data quality, integrity, and governance across all systemsStay up to date with emerging GCP tools, best practices, and data engineering trendsQualifications and experience: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, data science, or a related field5+ years’ experience as a data engineer or in a similar roleStrong programming skills in Python, SQL, and BigQueryHands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP)Proven expertise in ETL development and data modellingStrong analytical thinking and problem-solving skillsExcellent communication and collaboration abilitiesThe reference number for this position is NG61157 which is a permanent Hybrid position based in Stellenbosch, Cape Town offering a cost to company of up to R1.4mil CTC negotiable on experience and ability.
