We have an exciting opening for a Data Engineer/Scientist to support the U.S. Navy's Team Submarine Program Offices, located at the Washington Navy Yard in Washington, DC. Bring your expertise and collaborative skills to enhance military defense and ensure the safety of our sailors.

To qualify, you must have an Active or Current Secret clearance, or be able to attain one.

As a Data Engineer/Scientist, you will support the VIRGINIA Class Program Office (PMS 450), involved in various advanced technical stacks like Flankspeed, AI/ML, and Digital Transformation. You'll work alongside a dynamic team, contributing to the design, construction, and delivery of the newest U.S. attack submarine.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the technical life-cycle of systems, encompassing requirements gathering, design, implementation, sustainment, and integration.
  • Preparing and participating in System Engineering Technical Reviews (SETRs) like Preliminary Design Reviews and Critical Design Reviews.
  • Managing, reporting, and mitigating technical risks while keeping stakeholders informed.
  • Breaking down system capabilities into software/hardware and process requirements, collaborating with stakeholders on system requirements.
  • Assisting in scoping technical project efforts, including planning and coordination of resources.
  • Providing Courses of Action and trade-off analysis to guide design decisions on cost, schedule, and performance.
  • Generating technical documentation such as System Engineering Plans and Interface Control Documents.
  • Supporting Media Management and messaging.
  • Managing and supporting various Navy Systems including Flank Speed, uNNPI / NIPR, SIPR/Mercury, and others.
  • Assisting with App management and SharePoint Platform development.

Qualifications

  • The ability to obtain a secret clearance, as failure to do so may affect your job offer.
  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in Software Engineering, including internships and relevant education.
  • 5 years of experience in Software Engineering and Technical Project Management.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills to collaborate effectively across all personnel levels.
  • 5 years of experience with Microsoft Office Suite and the Power Platform Suite.
  • Knowledge of Software Engineering Lifecycle, Linux, Python, Github, Agile methodologies, and Linear Algebra.
