Data Engineer - Build & Data Platform (H/F)

About

Our client is a French technology company specializing in the development and operation of battery energy storage systems. Recently backed by a multi-million euro funding round from top-tier institutional investors, the company operates at the intersection of energy infrastructure and trading.

To support a strong growth phase, the company is strengthening its optimization division and is recruiting a Data Engineer to design, build, and operate its entire data infrastructure from scratch.

Your Responsibilities

Reporting to the division management and in direct collaboration with the quantitative and trading teams, you will develop the systems that will directly feed the optimization algorithms in the electricity markets. Your responsibilities include:

• Cloud Architecture: Design and maintain the data architecture on the cloud (AWS targeted) in line with the team's needs.
• Data Pipelines (ETL/ELT): Develop robust pipelines for ingesting market data from multiple sources (APIs, FTP, websockets).
• Streaming and Real-Time: Implement and maintain high-frequency data streams to ingest market signals (intraday prices, network frequency).
• ML Infrastructure (MLOps): Build dedicated environments for feature engineering, training, and deployment of forecasting models (Python, MLflow).
• Reliability and Monitoring: Manage workflow orchestration (scheduling, dependencies), ensure data quality, and implement observability tools to guarantee 24/7 operational continuity.

Technical Environment

• Languages and Databases: Python (pandas, SQLAlchemy, Pydantic), SQL (PostgreSQL, Redshift or equivalent).
• Cloud: AWS (S3, Glue, Lambda, RDS/Aurora, CloudWatch) or equivalent solutions.
• Data & Orchestration: Apache Airflow, Apache Kafka (or equivalents).
• DevOps / IaC: Docker, CI/CD (GitHub Actions), Terraform.

Your Profile

• You are a graduate of a top engineering school or hold a Master's degree (Bac+5) in computer science, data engineering, or applied mathematics.
• You have 1 to 3 years of experience in data engineering, cloud infrastructure, or MLOps.
• You are recognized for your pragmatism: you want to design systems intended for deployment in real production environments to manage physical assets.
• You are autonomous, rigorous, and capable of structuring projects in a demanding environment where procedures are yet to be defined.
• Previous experience or a strong interest in the energy, finance, or trading sectors is a plus.

Job Conditions

• Contract: Permanent contract (CDI), executive status (forfait jours).
• Compensation: Between €45k and €60k, depending on profile.
• Location: Bordeaux (strong preference) or Paris.
• Flexibility: Hybrid work model.
