Data Engineer - Data Platform

A Leading Financial Services Group is seeking a Data Engineer to join its high-performing team, contributing to the design, build, and operation of secure, reliable, and scalable data ingestion and platform solutions that enable faster value creation across analytics and data science teams.

Job Description • Design and build configurable, secure, and cost-efficient data ingestion pipelines that enable rapid onboarding of new data sources. • Develop and support platform tooling that simplifies data transformation, orchestration, and data product development • Engineer platforms with observability, performance, and reliability in mind, defining and meeting SLI's and SLO's. • Embed privacy, security, and data governance by design, implementing IAM, RBAC, encryption, and compliance controls. • Leverage containerisation and infrastructure as code to ensure scalable, repeatable, and efficient deployment of data services. • Contribute to technology decisions, proofs-of-concept, and evaluations through hands-on experimentation.

Minimum Requirements • Matric / Grade 12 • National Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in IT, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, or a related quantitative field. • 5+ years’ experience as a Data Engineer in a data platform or service engineering environment, with at least 2 years in a modern cloud-based context. • Proven experience delivering high-impact data engineering solutions and a strong commitment to continuous learning and growth.
