Position Overview
CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield is seeking a Data Engineer for their Data Platforms team. In this role, you will understand data needs, develop reports and dashboards, and ensure reliable data loading processes while collaborating with various teams to meet business requirements. Key Responsibilities
- Hands-on administration of data platforms for integrations, data governance tooling, MDM, including Informatica (IDMC/MDM/CDGC/CDI/PC/PWX) and Azure ADF.
- Ensure effective integration and alignment with organizational goals.
- Monitor platform performance and availability; proactively address issues to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including data engineering, data governance, and business stakeholders, to ensure data platforms and services meet current and future needs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent experience (an additional 4 years of relevant work experience in lieu of a Bachelor's degree).
- 3 years of hands-on experience with database management systems, ELT/ETL systems, business intelligence tools, defect management, and system testing.
- Demonstrable technical knowledge of data platforms, application lifecycle management, and standard operational support requirements (SLAs, SOPs, etc.).
- Knowledge of technical platforms and processes, including streaming data architecture, data warehouse management, Lakehouse architecture, ETL/ELT and data store patterns, CI/CD management, containerization, orchestration tools (ADF, Airflow, Prefect, Control-M), and data integrations using Informatica (IDMC/MDM/CDGC/CDI/PC/PWX).
- Ability to forge strong relationships with cross-functional partners such as Data Governance & Architecture, Data Product, Analytics, and business stakeholders.
- Experience in strategic technology planning and execution, including drafting user guides, establishing use policies, and managing user acceptance and support/maintenance.
- Experience applying Agile, DevOps, or SAFe principles to large-scale data engineering initiatives.
- Must be eligible to work in the U.S. without Sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of healthcare payers, providers, pharmacies, and community health businesses.
