Summary:
As a Data Engineer at Meta, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our user-centric and business-oriented products across platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, WhatsApp, Reality Labs, and Threads. Your technical expertise and analytical mindset will allow you to design and build extensive data sets that enhance the experiences of billions of users and hundreds of millions of businesses worldwide. You will work collaboratively with software engineering, data science, and product management teams to develop scalable data solutions that optimize growth, strategy, and user experience for over 3 billion users and our employee community. Data Engineering Responsibilities: • Conceptualize and manage the data architecture for numerous large-scale projects, balancing design and operational cost-benefit evaluations. • Create frameworks to enhance the efficacy of data logging, collaborating with data infrastructure to troubleshoot and resolve issues. • Partner with engineers, product managers, and data scientists to understand data needs and represent key data insights visually. • Define and oversee Service Level Agreements for all data sets in your areas of ownership. • Establish and implement security models to ensure compliance with privacy requirements, addressing data quality and evolving governance processes. • Design, develop, and launch advanced data models and visualizations that serve various use cases across products. • Tackle complex data integration challenges using optimal Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) patterns and sourcing from both structured and unstructured data. • Manage existing production processes, optimizing complex code using advanced algorithmic techniques. • Streamline pipelines, dashboards, frameworks, and systems to facilitate easier development of data artifacts. • Influence product and cross-functional teams to identify data opportunities that drive significant impact. • Mentor your peers through constructive feedback to foster a collaborative environment.
Minimum Qualifications: • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. • 7+ years of experience working extensively with data, in roles such as data analyst, data scientist, data engineer, or similar positions. • 7+ years of experience with SQL, ETL processes, data modeling, and proficiency in at least one programming language (e.g., Python, C++, C#, Scala, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications: • Master's or Ph.D. in a STEM field. • Proven track record of integrating AI tools to optimize workflows and drive measurable outcomes, like efficiency gains or quality improvements. • Experience implementing responsible, ethical AI practices, such as risk assessments and bias mitigation strategies. • Demonstrated commitment to AI skill development and staying updated with emerging technologies.
Public Compensation:
$177,000/year to $247,000/year + bonus + equity + benefits
