About The Role

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Solutions team. In this pivotal role, you will explore emerging data technologies, evaluate Snowflake and its ecosystem capabilities, and design scalable, modern data solutions that drive our data practice forward. Your responsibilities will include prototyping and validating new approaches through proof-of-concepts, collaborating closely with Data Engineering and Data Operations teams, and delivering high-quality initial implementations that shape the future of BRP’s data landscape. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on innovative projects, influence strategic data initiatives, and contribute to the evolution of our data platform. Your expertise and curiosity will be instrumental in advancing our data capabilities and ensuring the delivery of robust, efficient, and scalable data solutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field
  • 6+ years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data platform engineering
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, including Snowflake and Databricks
  • Solid understanding of designing secure and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows
  • Proficiency in SQL, DBT, and at least one programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.)
  • Experience with CI/CD practices and version control tools like Azure DevOps and Git
  • Proven ability to work within agile teams to deliver analytics and data platform solutions
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to synthesize complex information for stakeholders
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions
  • Curiosity, self-drive, and motivation to thrive in a dynamic environment
  • Fluent in English; French language skills are a plus
  • Ability to work in a hybrid mode from Montréal or Sherbrooke offices

Responsibilities

  • Explore, evaluate, and prototype new data technologies, Snowflake features, and ecosystem tools
  • Design, develop, and implement robust, scalable, and reusable data solutions and architectural patterns
  • Conduct proof-of-concepts to validate emerging technologies and innovative approaches for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance, and automation
  • Build initial versions of solutions and collaborate with Data Ops and Data Engineering teams for seamless transition to production environments
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation to ensure maintainability, training, and adoption of solutions
  • Partner with stakeholders to gather requirements, shape solutions, estimate efforts, and ensure timely delivery
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on data platform capabilities, best practices, and industry standards
  • Lead by example through adherence to strong engineering principles, code quality, and solution design excellence
