Snowflake Data Engineer

About Us

For our client in the transport industry in Bern, we are looking for an analytical, motivated, and open-minded Snowflake Data Engineer.

In an innovative, cloud-based environment, you will work on the further development of a modern Enterprise Analytics Platform. The focus is on high-performance ELT pipelines, data modeling, and integration into complex enterprise systems.

Your Responsibilities

• Development, optimization, and operation of Snowflake Data Warehouse solutions
• Setup and support of ELT/ETL pipelines (dbt, Airflow, Snowpipe, Streams & Tasks)
• Data modeling (Star Schema, Data Vault) including creation and optimization of tables, views & schemas
• Performance tuning (Clustering, Micro-Partitioning, Query Optimization, Warehouse Sizing)
• Creation and maintenance of data exports & reports
• Setup of data quality checks, monitoring & alerting
• Integration of Snowflake with external systems (Cloud Storage, APIs, Streaming)
• Error analysis and incident handling in Data Pipelines & Reports
• Optimization of Argo/Kubernetes batch processes
• Contribution to the setup of Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and CI/CD
• Documentation of architecture and data flows as well as knowledge transfer
• Support of business departments and technical support

Your Profile

• Completed degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Snowflake Developer in production projects
• Very good knowledge of Snowflake (Warehouses, Micro-Partitions, Time Travel, Cloning, Streams/Tasks, Security Features)
• Strong SQL and Python skills; other scripting languages are an advantage
• Experience with ELT/ETL tools (dbt, Airflow, Snowpipe, Prefect)
• Experience with Cloud Storage (AWS S3, Azure Blob)
• Knowledge of Terraform and CI/CD (Tekton or Jenkins)
• Experience with REST APIs and error analysis
• Experience in Kubernetes/Container environments (Argo Workflows)
• Proficient in monitoring, logging, and incident handling
• Independent, structured, proactive, and reliable
• Very good German and English skills
