Data Engineer

About Our Client

Our utilities client is seeking a Data Engineer to administer, design and optimize Oracle-based pipelines using PL/SQL, and PowerShell.

Lead the development of data and automation solutions supporting compliance, asset performance, and inspection reporting.

Contract Details

• 3-month contract
• Hybrid (Burnaby, BC)
• 37.5 hours/week
• Mondays and Tuesdays are mandatory on-site days.

Must Haves

• 5+ years of development using Oracle SQL and Oracle PL/SQL (Moderate-Advanced)
• Strong scripting in PowerShell (Moderate-Advanced)
• Hands on Process Design and Automation experience
• Experience building and maintaining ETL pipelines into Oracle databases
• Practical ability to research and integrate new solutions efficiently

Nice to Have

• Experience with VBA or VBScript for automation
• Background in asset or compliance reporting environments
• Exposure to data governance or quality assurance processes
• Familiarity with hybrid cloud data integrations

Responsibilities

• Perform complex data transformations to support compliance and asset performance reporting
• Develop, maintain, and enhance SQL, PowerShell, and VBA/VBScript solutions to support asset inspection quality assurance processes
• Design, build, and optimize ETL pipelines from multiple source systems into an Oracle database, ensuring high data integrity and reliability
• Provide local database administration support, including managing access controls and user privileges
• Lead stakeholder engagement activities, including requirements gathering, quality assurance, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
• Develops, tests, maintains, improves, and provides development oversight for an Oracle database ensuring database systems run effectively and securely to support business operations
• Design of stable, reliable, and effective database system and provide development oversight by coordinating and executing system development, batch processing, and system integration activities
• Modify database according to requests, perform tests, and resolve database usage issues and malfunctions to ensure all database programs meet company and performance requirements
