Data Engineering Team Lead

Introduction

The Data Engineering Team Lead will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining scalable data systems while leading a team of data engineers. This role combines hands-on technical expertise with leadership, ensuring high-quality data pipelines, architecture, and delivery aligned with business goals

Duties & Responsibilities

Technical Leadership • Design and oversee development of robust, scalable data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes • Architect and maintain data platforms (data lakes, warehouses, real-time systems) • Ensure data quality, integrity, security, and governance standards • Review code, enforce best practices, and drive technical excellence • Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend improvements

Team Management • Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data engineers • Conduct performance reviews, coaching, and career development planning • Allocate resources and manage workloads across projects • Foster a collaborative, high-performance team culture

Project Delivery • Work closely with stakeholders (data scientists, analysts, product teams) • Translate business requirements into technical solutions • Manage timelines, priorities, and deliverables • Ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope

Data Strategy & Governance • Contribute to data strategy and roadmap • Implement data governance, compliance, and security frameworks • Define and monitor KPIs for data reliability and performance

Desired Experience & Qualification

-10 years’ data engineering and leading digital channels teams experience

-Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Data Science

-DBMS, SQL, Oracle, Power BI, Python
