Data Platform Engineer

About This Role

In this role, you will shape a modern data platform, building and developing scalable, robust, and secure data pipelines and services. You will be responsible for integrating diverse data sources, modeling data for analytics and reporting purposes, and ensuring high data quality. You will automate processes, optimize existing data flows, and implement best practices in monitoring, security, and performance. You will work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to efficiently support data-driven use cases. With your technical expertise, you will drive the continuous development of the data platform architecture and actively contribute new technologies and approaches.

Responsibilities

• You will realize diverse data use cases on the cantonal data platform
• You will support business units in implementing their solutions on modern data platforms
• You will advise administrative units on potentials related to Data Engineering and promote knowledge transfer
• You will translate technical requirements into understandable terms for specialists and stakeholders
• You will work securely in hybrid environments between cloud and on-premises infrastructures

Qualifications

• Sound experience in Data Engineering with technologies such as Databricks and Microsoft Fabric
• Very good knowledge of SQL, Python, Spark, dbt, or R
• Understanding of modern data stack principles such as Data Lakehouse and Medallion Architecture
• Enjoyment of collaboration with IT experts and business units
• Flawless German, both written and spoken (at least C1 level)
