About The Role

We are seeking a motivated Data Platform Engineer to join our Data Solutions team. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore emerging data technologies, evaluate the capabilities of Snowflake and its ecosystem, and design modern, scalable data solutions that accelerate our data initiatives. As a key member of the team, you will prototype and validate innovative approaches through proof-of-concept projects, collaborate closely with Data Engineering and Data Operations teams, and deliver high-quality initial implementations that influence the future of BRP’s data landscape. Your expertise and curiosity will be instrumental in shaping strategic data initiatives, ensuring our platform remains at the forefront of technological advancements. This position provides a dynamic environment where you can leverage your technical skills to develop robust solutions, support stakeholders, and lead by example in engineering excellence.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in data engineering, software engineering, or data platform engineering.
  • Strong experience with cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP.
  • Hands-on experience with modern data platforms, especially Snowflake and Databricks.
  • Proficiency in designing secure and reliable ETL/ELT pipelines and data workflows.
  • Expertise in SQL, DBT, and at least one programming language (Python, Java, JavaScript, etc.).
  • Proven experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control tools like Azure DevOps and Git.
  • Experience working within agile teams to deliver data or analytics solutions.
  • Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written, with the ability to synthesize complex information and influence stakeholders.
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions effectively.
  • Curiosity, self-motivation, and adaptability to a constantly changing environment.
  • Fluency in English; French language skills are a plus.
  • Ability to work in a hybrid mode from our Montréal or Sherbrooke office.

Responsibilities

  • Explore, evaluate, and prototype new data technologies, Snowflake features, and ecosystem tools to improve our data landscape.
  • Design, develop, and implement scalable, robust, and reusable data solutions and architectural patterns.
  • Conduct proof-of-concept projects to validate emerging technologies and new approaches for data ingestion, transformation, orchestration, governance, and automation.
  • Build initial versions of solutions and collaborate with Data Ops and Data Engineering teams for seamless transition to production environments.
  • Create comprehensive technical documentation to ensure maintainability, training, and adoption of solutions.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define requirements, shape solutions, estimate efforts, and ensure timely delivery.
  • Act as a subject-matter expert on data platform capabilities, best practices, and industry standards.
  • Lead by example through strong engineering principles, high code quality, and innovative solution design.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies to continuously improve our data platform offerings.
