DATA PLATFORM ENGINEER – KAFKA SPECIALIST

About

We are looking for motivated support for the development and further development of our client's Kafka-based messaging platform. The focus is on the development of self-service provisioning solutions and practical integration approaches (e.g. with Kafka Connect).

General

• Salary for 38.5 hours: up to €5,900 / month depending on experience level. Individual bonus model
• The position is also possible as a freelancer. Hourly rate ~ €75 – €85
• Client: ORF
• Work location: ORF-Zentrum Vienna
• Home office possible to a large extent: at least 1 day/week on-site is required
• Start: Immediately

Responsibilities

• Setting up, configuring, and maintaining Kafka clusters
• Development and further development of the Kafka-based messaging platform
• Self-service provisioning solutions
• Integration solutions (samples, Kafka Connect)
• Conception and implementation of data pipelines
• Co-design and maintenance of schemas
• Collaboration with platform teams
• Creation of technical guides, tools, and onboarding materials
• Development and maintenance of internal libraries or templates
• AWS

Qualifications

• Apache KafkaTools (Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Schema Registry etc.)
• Kubernetes + Gitops via Github & ArgoCD
• Software Engineering Programming (e.g. in Python, Go, Java, C#, Kotlin)
• Connecting enterprise/legacy systems to modern data pipelines
• Delivery guarantees, eventual consistency event modeling, schema management, integration standards
• Docker
• Linux
• Advantageous would be: Streaming technologies (e.g. Kafka Streams or ksqlDB), CDC tools (e.g. Debezium) Kafka security (e.g. ACLs, authentication, authorization), observability tools (e.g. Prometheus, Grafana or OpenTelemetry)
