About the role
The Opportunity
Join Catalina, a major player in data-driven marketing, at the heart of data, innovation, and compliance challenges. Within the Legal Department and in close collaboration with the Group DPO (GDPO) of Catalina's U.S. parent company, you will play a key role as the organization's DPO in France. You will lead the GDPR and AI compliance strategy while supporting business and technical teams in a highly data-driven environment. You will work in an international context, in close connection with our U.S. headquarters.
GDPR & AI Act compliance leadership
- Define and lead the compliance strategy for data protection and AI usage
- Ensure compliance with GDPR and applicable AI regulations
- Advise senior management and business teams
Project support (privacy by design & by default)
- Get involved early in projects involving personal data processing
- Conduct and manage DPIAs (when necessary)
- Act as a true business partner to operational teams
Risk & incident management
- Conduct audits and identify risks
- Lead remediation plans
- Manage data breaches (including CNIL notifications)
- Ensure proper implementation of internal rules and processes
- Data subject rights: oversee handling of rights requests
- Ensure compliant responses and respect of deadlines
External relations & international environment
- Act as the main point of contact for the CNIL
- Manage interactions with partners and processors
- Report directly to the GDPO on privacy matters and to the France Legal Director on legal matters
Governance & accountability
- Maintain up-to-date documentation related to personal data and AI (records, reporting)
- Design, update, and roll out-aligned with headquarters-policies, procedures, guidelines, and internal documentation related to data protection, ethics, and AI
- Ensure proactive regulatory and case law monitoring
- Draft a newsletter related to the scope of responsibilities
Awareness & data culture
- Train and raise awareness among teams on data protection and AI usage
Legal support & cross-functional projects
- Contribute to drafting and reviewing contracts (DPAs, GDPR clauses, AI usage clauses, etc.)
- Work on cross-functional topics (compliance, IT, AI)
- Participate in drafting and reviewing legal documents (contracts, policies, privacy notices)
- Support the Legal Department on ad hoc matters
Qualifications
- Advanced degree in law (ideally a Master's degree in digital law, new technologies law, data protection law, and/or DPO specialization). An IAPP-type certification is a strong plus
- Minimum 5 years of experience in data protection; significant experience as a DPO is highly valued
- Excellent knowledge of GDPR and AI regulatory frameworks
- Good command of compliance management tools (ideally OneTrust or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of and curiosity for IT, data, and security environments, with an interest in AI
- Ability to interact and influence a wide range of stakeholders
- Pragmatic, structured, and solution-oriented approach
- Excellent writing skills
- Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken)
Compensation & Benefits
- Location: Boulogne-Billancourt (Marcel Sembat)
- Contract: Permanent contract
- Remote work: Up to 3 days per week
