DATA PRIVACY OFFICER (N JHB)

Role Purpose

Lead divisional data‑privacy compliance by protecting confidential information, ensuring adherence to POPIA, PAIA, GDPR and related regulations. The role includes developing privacy policies, driving awareness and training, guiding staff on privacy requirements, and managing investigations and responses to privacy incidents. Reports to the Manager: Data Privacy Office.

Requirements

• Strong analytical and communication skills
• Experience handling sensitive information
• Strong knowledge of POPIA, PAIA, GDPR
• 3+ years’ privacy compliance experience
• CIPP/CIPM advantageous
• Degree in Law, Public Policy or related field

Key Responsibilities

• Support industry working groups and quarterly reporting
• Monitor regulatory changes and assess privacy risks
• Review legal agreements for privacy compliance
• Investigate privacy incidents and escalate reportable breaches
• Act as divisional privacy contact point
• Conduct audits, gap analyses and track remediation
• Deliver POPIA awareness and targeted training
• Implement and maintain divisional privacy policies
