ConsultUSA

Pittsburgh · On-site Contract 3d ago

About the role

Our client is adding a new position to support their Team with dedicated Quality Control (QC) of GIS work produced by GIS Technicians. This individual will not be editing GIS data directly, but will be responsible for verifying accuracy, completeness, and alignment with electric utility standards and documentation.

The ideal candidate brings deep knowledge of electric utility systems, assets, terminology, and field practices. A GIS background is helpful but not required; GIS software skills can be taught.

This role is critical in reducing backlog, ensuring data integrity, and supporting accurate representation of electric infrastructure across the service territory.

Key Responsibilities • Review completed GIS work submitted by GIS Technicians for accuracy and compliance with specifications. • Validate documented changes such as new line extensions, pole installations, equipment placements, connectivity models, etc • Confirm correct placement and representation of electric utility assets (e.g., poles, transformers, switches, fuses). • Cross-check GIS entries against engineering documentation, field notes, and utility standards. • Identify errors or discrepancies and route work back to Technicians for correction when needed. • Contribute to clearing existing QC backlog.

Technical & Industry Expertise • 5–7+ years of experience in electric utility operations or related fields. • Strong knowledge of electric utility terminology, assets, workflows, and standards. • Understanding of how electric distribution systems operate (e.g., connectivity, protection devices, conductor types).

Work Environment • Hybrid — onsite 2–3 days per week in Pittsburgh • Contract role for 6 months.
