The "Content Structure Core" team is the central point of contact for content structures and metadata. For our interdisciplinary "Content Structure Core" team in the Content & Product Creation division, we are looking for a Metadata Manager (m/f/d) at the Freiburg location as soon as possible, who will bring in-depth expertise as a recognized expert at the interface between editorial and technology.
What to expect:
- You will be responsible for the acquisition and optimization of digital content through metadata, controlled vocabularies, and semantic enrichment, ensuring consistent tagging and categorization.
- You will develop and manage taxonomies and controlled vocabularies and ensure their continuous further development.
- You will act as the interface between subject matter experts from editorial and developers to integrate new metadata workflows (including semi-automatic AI-based processes) and will support the selection and further development of suitable tools.
- You will carry out quality controls of existing metadata and ensure its consistency and accuracy.
- You will train and advise colleagues at the interface between editorial and technology on the use of metadata, taxonomies, and workflows to ensure efficient use and application and to strengthen knowledge transfer.
What you bring:
- You have practical experience with metadata models (e.g., Dublin Core), taxonomies, and management systems, as well as knowledge of library and documentation standards.
- You bring technical know-how for interfaces, data formats (such as XML, JSON, RDF), and digital media systems.
- You have a completed degree in Information Science, Library Science, Documentation, Data Science, or a comparable qualification.
- Your careful, structured, and analytical way of working characterizes you, as does your ability to grasp complex contexts clearly.
- You are a strong communicator, can involve various stakeholders, and enjoy interdisciplinary collaboration.
- Very good German language skills complete your profile (at least C1).
- Ideally, you have knowledge of AI-supported metadata enrichment tools and automated indexing technologies.
