About the Role

In the Department V: University Development and Central Services of the Central Administration of the University of Trier, the following position is to be filled as soon as possible:

SAP Transformation Manager*in (m/w/d)

(Pay group 12 TV-L, 100%, permanent)

Department V bundles a broad spectrum of science-related services and supports the planning and strategic development of the university.

These tasks await you

  • Planning and steering the project for the transformation and migration of the current university SAP ECC environment with the service areas personnel management, travel management, finance, controlling, materials management/purchasing, and organizational management to S/4HANA;
  • Responsible conceptual and structural support of the permanent and continuous further development of the future S/4HANA system within the university IT architecture;
  • Development and implementation of the technological development concept (especially use of cloud and AI technologies);
  • Coordination, steering, and support of the project team;
  • Steering of external service providers involved in the project, permanent system operation, and development work;
  • Responsible monitoring of project goals regarding quality, time, and budget;
  • Support of the change process within the University of Trier, including the implementation of measures to promote acceptance of new systems and processes;
  • Identification of possible project risks and development of measures for risk minimization;
  • Regular reporting to the steering committee, presidium, department heads, and other stakeholders.

As part of your work, you will collaborate closely with the departments of the university administration, neighboring teams within the department, especially the Administrative IT team, the Center for Information, Communication and Media Technology (ZIMK), the Information Security Officer (ISB), and other service units in the Planning and Development team.

What we expect from you

  • Completed, relevant university degree (Bachelor's or equivalent), e.g., in Computer Science, Business Informatics, or Data Science;
  • Relevant, approximately three years of practical experience, ideally in a university or public sector environment;
  • Very good knowledge in the SAP environment (preferably S/4HANA) and broad understanding of adjacent modules and interfaces;
  • Sound knowledge of modern IT infrastructures (cloud computing, virtualization, data management and analysis, networks, security, AI);
  • Proven experience in the development and implementation of IT strategies and projects;
  • Excellent analytical and conceptual skills, creativity, and willingness to learn;
  • Outstanding communication skills and ability for sovereign stakeholder and change management.

Ideally, you also have

  • Experience in managing complex IT projects in a university or public sector environment;
  • Project experience with SAP S/4HANA;
  • Knowledge of SAP cloud technologies, including the Business Technology Platform (BTP);
  • Knowledge in process and quality management (e.g., ITIL, ISO standards) as well as in the optimization and digitalization of administrative processes.
