System Data Analyst

About

The System Analyst (Data) will support early‑phase analysis, documentation, and planning activities required to progress complex, data‑intensive initiatives in a structured and governed manner. The role will focus on supporting alignment between business requirements, data structures, and system interactions.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to the analysis and documentation of end‑to‑end data flows, system interactions, and integration dependencies across environments.
• Support the identification and documentation of business rules, data rules, and data definitions .
• Assist in compiling and maintaining data‑related artefacts, including data inventories, metadata, and data lineage documentation, in alignment with enterprise data governance principles.
• Support the translation of business and statistical requirements into high‑level data and system specifications to inform solution design and architectural discussions.
• Contribute to proof‑of‑concept (PoC) activities by supporting requirements clarification, scope definition, and analysis of data and system impacts.
• Support the assessment of data quality, completeness, consistency, and sensitivity considerations, particularly where data is sourced across multiple departments and systems.
• Assist with the documentation of as‑is and to‑be process views, with a focus on data handling, system touchpoints, and control considerations.
• Support stakeholder engagement by providing analytical inputs, documentation, and status updates to programme and project forums as required.
• work closely with the Enterprise Architect and Solutions Architect to assess, propose and design both technically and business suitable solutions producing system feasibility and costings reports
• presenting proposals to Enterprise and Solutions architects.

Minimum Qualification

A tertiary qualification (NQF6), degree (NQF7) or Honours degree (NQF 8) in the field of specialisation OR equivalent industry-specific certifications OR

• A postgraduate qualification will be an added advantage.
• A formal architecture certification (e.g. TOGAF) will be an advantage.
• Minimum five years' experience in application analysis/architecture and/or design and/or enterprise architecture and/or solutions architecture.
