Job Description

LeverageTek is actively seeking a Data Engineer Tester for an approximately 16-month contract with its Ottawa, ON-based customer.

Work Location

The successful candidate will be required to work approximately 3 days per week on-site at the customer headquarters in Ottawa, Ontario.

Key Tasks

• Lead, manage, plan, and coordinate ETL/data testing activities including Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Cases, and Test Scripts
• Write and execute complex SQL-based test scripts on the Azure Databricks platform for data warehouse and engineering processes based on documented data mapping and transformation rules
• Record test execution results and evidence in Azure DevOps
• Ensure test activities are planned and performed in accordance with requirements and standards from the Test Center of Excellence
• Coordinate and support the business with User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
• Lead defect triage meetings; document defects, work with developers to resolve, and retest
• Develop technical system specifications and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
• Collaborate, share knowledge, and mentor team members
• Participate in team and technical meetings; provide status reports on work in progress, accomplishments, and issues
• Advise client with technical option analyses based on leading practices

Key Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience writing test cases and test scripts based on documented data mapping and business data transformation rules
• Minimum 5 years of experience with various types of software testing (functional, integration, system integration, performance) for data transformation processes
• Minimum 2 years of experience with Microsoft Azure data platform: Azure Databricks, SQL Databases, Azure Data Lake
• Minimum 5 years of experience in systems development including analysis, design, development, testing, and deployment
• Experience with implementation of batch and stream data processing pipelines
• Experience writing complex SQL queries, performance tuning, and data optimization
• Experience designing, developing, implementing, and testing data solutions for reporting applications such as Power BI

Qualifications

• Experience working on large-scale data analytics projects
• Experience with development of Microsoft Power BI reports and dashboards
• Strong communication skills - written and verbal - with both technical and non-technical audiences, including all levels of management
• Experience with Agile sprint development using Azure DevOps
• Experience working with spatial data (asset)
• Additional programming language experience: Scala, Python, R, Azure Functions (asset)

Compensation

Hourly Rate Negotiable
