About the role

About Our Client

Our client is a global leading IT Service & Technology firm that specialize in leading organizations in the healthcare and life sciences space, focused on leveraging modern data platforms to drive better outcomes and insights. With continued investment in cloud and data engineering capabilities, they are building scalable, high-performance data solutions using Azure and Databricks technologies.

About This Opportunity

This is a hands-on Databricks Developer role focused on building, optimizing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines within a modern Azure environment. You will work across the full data engineering lifecycle - from pipeline development and data modeling to performance tuning and production support. This role requires a strong individual contributor who can operate independently while collaborating within an agile delivery team.

This is not an architecture or management role - it is a pure-play development position requiring technical expertise and strong ownership of deliverables.

What You’ll Do:

Data Engineering & Development

  • Design, build, and optimize data pipelines using Databricks, PySpark, and Delta Lake
  • Develop new pipelines from scratch and enhance existing data workflows
  • Work with large-scale datasets, ensuring performance, scalability, and reliability
  • Implement robust ETL/ELT processes and data transformation logic

Azure Data Platform

  • Leverage Azure services such as ADLS, Azure Data Factory (ADF), and Synapse
  • Work within cloud-based data ecosystems to support ingestion, transformation, and storage
  • Apply best practices for data governance and data management, including Unity Catalog

Optimization & Troubleshooting

  • Identify and resolve data pipeline issues through root cause analysis
  • Optimize performance of existing pipelines and data processing jobs
  • Ensure high-quality, production-ready code aligned with engineering standards

Collaboration & Delivery

  • Work within an agile (scrum) team, contributing to sprint planning and delivery
  • Take ownership of assigned work and deliver with minimal supervision
  • Contribute to design and technical discussions where appropriate

Key Requirements:

What You Bring

  • 3–5 years of experience in Data Engineering, preferably within Azure environments
  • Strong hands-on expertise in Databricks, PySpark, SQL, and Delta Lake
  • Experience working with Azure data services (ADLS, ADF, Synapse)
  • Familiarity with Unity Catalog, data governance, and DevOps practices (Git, CI/CD)
  • Proven ability to build and optimize scalable data pipelines
  • Strong problem-solving, debugging, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative team

Must-Have Requirements

  • Databricks Certification (required)
  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, biotech, medical device, or pharmaceutical domains

What You’ll Love About This Opportunity

  • Opportunity to work on impactful healthcare data initiatives
  • Exposure to a modern Azure and Databricks data stack
  • High-ownership role with end-to-end pipeline development
  • Collaborative, delivery-focused team environment
  • Strong alignment to cutting-edge data engineering practices
