Join our innovative team as a Design Release Engineer for Aggregator and Extender Solutions. This position offers flexibility, allowing you to work on-site at a GM facility or remotely as needed, with a monthly on-site requirement.
As a high-performing Design Release Engineer (DRE), you will take charge of defining requirements, executing design collaboration with GM or suppliers, and leading testing/validation efforts. Your role will require an analytical mindset to tackle complex problems using both quantitative and qualitative data. You will provide guidance to fellow engineers and lead strategic solutions that align with our business goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Specify and release Aggregator and Extender modules, ensuring they meet all vehicle and safety requirements.
- Manage the packaging and mounting of components for multiple vehicle programs.
- Create and maintain component hardware and software timing plans to align with material requirements.
- Lead cross-functional Product Development Teams (PDT) for effective product integration into vehicles.
- Ensure compliance with Program Imperatives such as cost, investment, and engineering content.
- Develop component validation plans and oversee their timely execution.
- Participate in formal design reviews aligned with the Vehicle Development Process (VDP).
- Approve documentation revisions for accuracy and completeness, including Owner/Service Manuals.
- Support vehicle integration activities for pre-production and production phases.
- Collaborate with system safety engineers to formulate system safety plans.
- Lead issue resolution for design challenges and warranty analysis.
- Participate in Scaled Agile product delivery with cross-functional teams to prioritize and deploy features.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Computer Science.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience with microprocessor-based automotive electrical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work across teams effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
Desired Skills
- Master's degree in Engineering.
- Experience in electronic hardware design and automotive validation processes.
- Proficiency in automotive EMC requirements and performing DFMEAs.
