In this role, you will have the opportunity to Plan, develop, and execute end-user Validation Tests and Summative Evaluations for software products used as a medical device and hardware/software IT products used in a medical environment.

This position is particularly well suited to healthcare professionals who want to transition into medical device validation, while remaining close to patient care realities, end‑users, and clinical workflows.

Your role:

As a Design Validation Engineer with a clinical background, you will:

  • Plan, develop, and execute end‑user validation tests and summative evaluations for software used as a medical device and medical IT systems, ensuring alignment with real‑world clinical use.
  • Translate clinical needs, workflows, and risk scenarios into structured validation strategies, considering intended use, users, and regulatory requirements.
  • Supervise and execute validation protocols for hardware and software, covering safety, performance, usability, and user acceptance.
  • Moderate validation sessions with end‑users (physicians, nurses, biomedical engineers, IT professionals), leveraging your clinical credibility to facilitate meaningful feedback.
  • Maintain and use a simulated hospital environment to support validation sessions, demonstrations, and realistic clinical scenarios.
  • Organize and support validation logistics (France, USA), including end‑user recruitment, preparation of clinical scenarios, and coordination with moderators and observers.
  • Analyze validation data and user feedback, identify trends, and contribute to data‑driven improvements in product design and risk mitigation.
  • Author and maintain validation documentation (protocols, reports, traceability records) in compliance with regulatory and quality system requirements.
  • Collaborate closely with UX, System Engineering, Product Development, and Regulatory teams, acting as a bridge between clinical reality and technical development.
  • Continuously improve validation practices, incorporating evolving regulations, standards, and Philips best practices.

You're the right fit if you have:

  • A Medical Degree, Registered Nurse or similar healthcare qualification OR an Engineering degree with strong clinical exposure.
  • Hands‑on experience in a clinical environment, with a solid understanding of patient care, workflows, and healthcare risks.
  • Initial or confirmed experience in design validation, summative evaluation, clinical evaluation, medical advisory, or healthcare product development.
  • Strong interest in medical devices, digital health, and healthcare IT systems.
  • Ability to structure clinical reasoning into formal validation plans, protocols, and reports.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams in an international environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with the ability to interpret qualitative and quantitative data.
  • Excellent communication skills, able to engage confidently with clinicians, engineers, and stakeholders.
  • Fluent English (French is a plus).
