Power BI Designer/Developer - Hybrid - Cape Town based Contract role

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and deploy effective Power BI reports and dashboards.
• Design databases and develop complex SQL queries on SQL Server to extract, transform, and load (ETL) data from various sources, including flat CSV files and Excel files.
• Write SQL procedures and functions to optimize data retrieval and manipulation for Power BI reporting.
• Utilize advanced Excel skills to manage, analyze, and prepare data for visualization.
• Ensure the accuracy and integrity of data displayed in Power BI dashboards.
• Work closely with stakeholders to understand their data visualization needs and provide solutions that meet business requirements.
• Optimize SQL database designs and queries to improve the performance of Power BI reports.
• Maintain and support existing Power BI solutions, including troubleshooting and making improvements as needed.
• Collaborate with IT and data teams to integrate Power BI reports into business processes.
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Power BI features and best practices in data visualization.
• Provide training and support to business users on effectively utilizing Power BI dashboards.

Skills and Qualifications:

• Strong proficiency in Power BI, including DAX, Power Query, and data modelling.
• Expertise in SQL Server, with significant experience in database design, developing complex SQL queries, and writing SQL procedures and functions.
• Strong Excel skills, including experience with data analysis and manipulation in flat CSV and Excel file formats.
• Experience with ETL processes and data integration from various data sources.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to translate business requirements into non-technical, lay terms.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical team members.
• Knowledge of data privacy and security practices a must.
• Familiarity with other BI tools and data visualization techniques is a plus.
