Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP, a leading global law firm with offices in major commercial, legal, and governmental hubs worldwide, is seeking a Desktop Engineer to join our IT team. This position will reside in our Philadelphia office with a hybrid in‑office/remote working schedule.
Responsibilities
- Prepares the repackaging and proper deployment of Firm applications.
- Provides Level 3 and Level 4 end‑user support for the configurations and installations of Firm applications.
- Creates and maintains system documentation and procedures for desktop applications and solutions.
- Designs, modifies, tests and debugs 3rd‑party and Firm applications.
- Identifies and resolves configuration, installation and application compatibility issues.
- Formulates and defines the system scope and objectives for assigned IT projects.
- Adheres to defined SLAs for incident, task, request and problem management.
- Acts as a service owner of assigned application(s) to proactively monitor and report on trends of the application(s) in both the marketplace and within the Firm.
- Proposes solutions based on current IT trends and directions.
- Delivers high‑quality customer service in a timely fashion.
- Works with the PMO office on IT projects and provides cost analysis and estimated man‑hours for engineering‑related projects.
- Provides a cost analysis for new applications.
- Determines requirements and impact of new applications and upgrades to existing software and hardware systems.
- Recommends effective solutions and monitors the implementation of the solutions for quality and stability.
- Performs other related responsibilities as assigned.
Education and Experience
- A bachelor's degree in Computer Science.
- Minimum 5 years of experience managing Windows desktop systems, including at least 2 years deploying software in a corporate environment and 2 years with virtual desktop technologies (application, OS, etc.), or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team.
- Excellent multitasking and prioritizing skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, including verbal and written communication.
- Proven experience with the application lifecycle process (requirements gathering, analysis, design).
- Familiarity with a virtual desktop environment such as Citrix.
- Familiarity with OS deployment lifecycle.
- Proven understanding of operating systems, desktop and notebook hardware, and related concepts.
- Proven understanding of scripting, automation, and monitoring technologies.
- Understanding of systems and lifecycle management.
- Strong troubleshooting skills for Windows operating system and application software.
Technical Skills
- Operating Systems: Windows (7, 8, 10, 11), Linux, macOS.
- Desktop Management: Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), PowerShell.
- Document Management: MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), Adobe Reader, Acrobat Writer, Visio.
- Communications: BlackBerry, Internet Explorer, Chrome, Firefox.
- Portal/Collaboration: SharePoint.
