Development Analyst

Introduction

An established QSR / Fast-Food business with a national footprint is seeking to permanently employ a Development Analyst to join their Business Intelligence (BI) team, to be based in Joburg, Gauteng (Hybrid).

The Development Analyst supports the organisation’s growth initiatives by collecting, analysing, and interpreting data related to consumers, competitors, markets, locations, and internal performance indicators. Working closely with Development, Operations, and cross-functional teams, the role ensures that decisions on new site development, redevelopment, and strategic projects are grounded in robust analytics. The Development Analyst transforms raw data into clear insights, dashboards, and recommendations that improve market penetration, optimise site selection, and guide organisational investment.

Salary – Total cost to company budget of R40,000 to R50,000 per month dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications. Various benefits are included in this package.

Duties & Responsibilities

Data Collection & Management

• Gather data on consumers, competitors, market conditions, and site-level indicators.
• Maintain and update development-related datasets, pipelines, and analysis frameworks (Benchmark)
• Ensure data integrity, accessibility, and accuracy across systems and reports

Analysis & Insight Generation

• Compile and analyse statistical data using tools such as Qlik, Excel, GIS, and mapping solutions.
• Assess location-based performance, market gaps, trade areas, and cannibalisation impacts (Benchmark)
• Interpret data, construct dashboards, and generate reports that guide development decisions (Feasibilities)
• Build business cases for new site development, relocations, refurbishments, and closures (Gap Analysis)

Reporting & Communication

• Prepare clear visual reports, summaries, and presentations for executives and stakeholders.
• Translate complex data into actionable insights with recommendations for next steps.
• Manage and automate recurring reports, ensuring timely delivery and consistency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Support Development, Marketing, Operations, and Finance in strategic planning and project execution.
• Provide analytical input for project prioritisation, funding approvals, and ROI evaluations.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure alignment on project milestones and outcomes.

Project & Workflow Support

• Keep task trackers, workflows, and project dashboards updated and visible.

Work travel

• Conduct site visits as required (Nationally).

Desired Experience & Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental & geographical Sciences, GIS, Data Analytics, Business,
• Marketing, or related field.
• Experience in site development analytics, market research, or related fields.
• Understanding of trade area analysis, competitor mapping, and consumer behaviour
• Exposure to retail, QSR, or franchise environments is advantageous.
• Ability to interpret spatial and performance data to guide strategic decisions.
• Proficiency in Qlik, advanced Excel, GIS/mapping software, and data visualisation tools.
• Strong statistical analysis capabilities.
• Ability to clean, organise, and prepare data for analysis
• Competence in building dashboards and automated reports
• Comfortable handling both routine data processes and deep analytical challenges
• Committed to continuous improvement and delivering insights that influence strategic decisions.
• Works effectively with Development, Operations, Marketing, and senior leadership teams.

Package & Remuneration

Salary – Total cost to company budget of R40,000 to R50,000 per month dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications. Various benefits are included in this package.
