Summary
The Development & Marketing Manager is a key member of the advancement team responsible for advancing the mission of Girls Inc. through strategic fundraising and integrated marketing and communications efforts.
This position leads the organization’s core fundraising initiatives—including the annual campaign, annual gala, and individual donor cultivation and stewardship—and oversees marketing and communications functions that support fundraising outcomes and organizational visibility, such as website management, social media, and content development. The Manager works collaboratively with the Director of Advancement, Executive Director, Board of Directors, staff, and volunteers to meet fundraising goals, strengthen donor relationships, and tell compelling stories of program impact.
This is a manager-level role with both strategic responsibility and hands-on execution. The position may supervise consultants, vendors, interns, or volunteers supporting development and marketing activities.
General Responsibilities
Fund Development
- Lead the planning, execution, and evaluation of the organization’s annual fundraising campaigns, including direct mail, online, and email appeals.
- Manage the planning and execution of the annual gala, including sponsorship development, donor engagement, logistics coordination, marketing, and post-event stewardship.
- Cultivate, solicit, and steward individual donors, including prospect research, personalized outreach, meetings, proposals, acknowledgements, and relationship management.
- Support the Director of Advancement in the development and execution of fundraising strategies and annual revenue goals.
- Collaborate with the Board of Directors on donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship efforts.
- Maintain oversight of the donor database/CRM, ensuring data accuracy, timely gift processing, acknowledgements, reporting, and segmentation.
- Track progress toward fundraising targets and prepare regular reports analyzing performance, trends, and donor giving patterns.
- Prepare fundraising materials such as appeal letters, sponsorship packets, donor communications, proposals, and impact reports.
- Maintain and improve systems and processes related to donor stewardship, gift accounting, and reporting.
- Coordinate with external vendors, consultants, and event partners as appropriate to support fundraising initiatives.
Marketing & Communications
- Manage and update the affiliate’s website, ensuring content is current, engaging, and aligned with Girls Inc. branding standards.
- Lead social media management, including content planning, posting, engagement, and performance tracking.
- Develop compelling content for digital and print communications, including newsletters, fundraising appeals, event promotions, and marketing collateral.
- Create and implement a communications calendar aligned with fundraising initiatives, events, programs, and organizational priorities.
- Collaborate with program staff to collect stories, data, and visuals that demonstrate impact and support donor engagement.
- Coordinate the writing, design, production, and distribution of brochures, publications, and promotional materials.
- Track and maintain records of media coverage and contribute to year-end communications reporting.

Job Requirements
- Demonstrated commitment to the mission and values of Girls Inc.
- Bachelor’s degree required; marketing, communications, nonprofit management, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of three (3) years of experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, marketing, or a related field.
- Proven experience with annual campaigns, fundraising events, and individual donor engagement.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to write for diverse audiences.
- Experience managing websites and social media platforms; WordPress experience highly desirable.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with Canva and Adobe Creative Suite a plus.
- Experience using donor databases/CRM systems and fundraising analytics.
- Independent, professional, flexible, and collaborative, with integrity and a sense of humor.
- Must submit clearances upon hire (FBI criminal, Child Abuse History Verification, State criminal and National Sex Offender Verification).
Hours & Work Schedule
- Hours per Week: 35
- Work Schedule: Monday-Friday (evenings and weekends, as scheduled)
Location
- Hybrid work schedule. Must be able to commute to GirlsInc. at the Bok Building (South Philadelphia) and other locations as required. Other tasks may be remote as agreed with supervisor.
Pay Transparency
The salary range for this position is $60,000-$70,000. We offer full-time employees comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, 403B retirement plan, and paid time off.
