Akkodis is seeking a DevOps Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for a contract (W2) position with a client in Plano, TX / Charlotte, NC / Jersey City, NJ – hybrid (3 days onsite per week). The role requires strong hands‑on expertise in DevOps & Cloud Infrastructure (Terraform, Ansible, Windows/Linux SysAdmin, IIS/.NET) and solid solution architecture and enterprise project collaboration experience.
Pay Range: $75 – $78 per hour (negotiable based on experience, education, location, and other factors).
Job Summary
The Solutions Engineer interfaces with customers to identify their needs, works with network engineers, support, and operations to implement plans that improve the customer experience, balances safety and design considerations, researches advanced technology and best practices, and seeks cost‑effective solutions. The role typically progresses from Technical Architect to Solutions Engineer within a large organization. A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is required; many candidates hold advanced degrees.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with IT professionals to ensure hardware is available and functioning for projects.
- Provide detailed specifications for proposed solutions, including time and scope.
- Assist other department engineers in creating and demonstrating practical solutions.
- Establish a framework for contributions from various departments and facilitate collaboration.
- Analyze current technologies and develop steps and processes for improvement.
- Document and monitor requirements needed to implement updates that enhance customer experience.
- Collaborate with project management teams to monitor progress and implementation of initiatives.
- Anticipate project challenges or constraints and proactively manage them.
Qualifications
- Project development and leadership skills (preferred).
- Experience developing IT and cloud infrastructure.
- Master’s degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (preferred).
- Up‑to‑date understanding of best practices for system security.
- Experience with software engineering, customer experience, and design architecture.
- Advanced understanding of business analysis techniques and processes.
- Extensive knowledge of various operating systems.
- Professional experience analyzing computer hardware and software.
- Ability to work across departments to execute project plans.
Technical Skills & Expertise
- Hands‑on creation, use, and debugging of Terraform code and configurations; testing infrastructure modules built with Terraform and Ansible.
- DevOps/CloudOps provisioning and configuration‑management technologies.
- Gathering configurations from existing infrastructure (servers, firewalls, load balancers, application middleware such as Tomcat, WebSphere, etc., storage).
- Expertise in Ansible Playbooks and XLR.
- SysAdmin experience on Windows and RHEL operating systems.
- Strong communication skills for interaction with executives and senior leaders.
- Degree in Computer Science, Electronics, Communication, or Information Technology.
- Competitive Windows SysAdmin/IIS Admin skills.
- Knowledge of RDBMS data management and analytics.
- PowerShell scripting.
- Ability to plan, design, create programs, and document using an Agile framework.
- Application container knowledge (.NET/IIS).
- Ability to design and develop application and architectural solutions for complex technology problems using emerging technologies.
- Managing changes, defects, and projects across testing and production environments.
- Minimum 5 years of hands‑on experience, including:
- Java full‑stack development on UNIX & Windows.
- Windows automation (PowerShell, Bladelogic, etc.).
- DevOps (environment management & application releases on Windows).
- Application middleware architecture (IIS/.NET) on Java.
- Network architecture.
- Hardware architecture.
