Your Responsibilities

• Planning, building, and operating KVM-based virtualization environments with a clear focus on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES)
• Administration, optimization, and further development of our KVM virtualization platforms (incl. libvirt, virt-manager, virsh, storage and network connectivity)
• Automation of infrastructure and operational processes – especially with Ansible and Terraform (Infrastructure as Code)
• Development and implementation of efficient automation and cloud architectures for continuous improvement of our IT processes
• Operation and integration of container and virtualization technologies (e.g., KVM, SUSE Virtualization, Kubernetes – containers as a supplement to the VM world)
• Evaluation and integration of new technologies and best practices in the Linux and virtualization environment
• Daily use of GIT for version control of configuration files, playbooks, scripts, and infrastructure definitions
• Close collaboration with development and operations in the DevOps environment
• The use of AI-supported tools and coding assistants (e.g., for scripting, automation, troubleshooting, or documentation) is explicitly allowed and welcome
• We see AI as a tool for increasing efficiency, not as a replacement for expertise – those who use AI meaningfully work smarter, not less thoroughly

What We Expect From You

• Completed technical training, technical degree, or comparable in-depth practical experience as a Linux specialist (homelab experience explicitly welcome)
• Very good knowledge of SUSE Linux Enterprise Server (SLES) and the operation of Linux systems in productive environments
• Deep practical experience with KVM virtualization – from planning to operation to automation are part of your skills
• Very good understanding of virtualization and container technologies, especially KVM, ideally supplemented by knowledge of VMware, Xen, Kubernetes, or SUSE Virtualization
• A strong automation mentality characterizes you, as does your expertise with Ansible, Terraform, Bash, and ideally Python
• Confident use of GIT as a central tool in the daily workflow
• DevOps experience is an advantage, e.g., in CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, or in the close integration of development and operations
• Experience in the productive use of AI coding support (e.g., with Ansible, Terraform, Bash, or Python) is a clear advantage
• Openness to new tools, workflows, and modern working methods in the DevOps and automation environment is actively encouraged
• Very good German and good English skills, spoken and written
