Join First Horizon's dynamic DevOps engineering team as a DevOps Platform Engineer, where you'll play a critical role in creating a top-notch developer experience. Your mission is to enhance and support our robust DevOps platform by leveraging your engineering expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Transition your engineering background into a DevOps Platform Engineer role.
  • Collaborate to understand design concepts and implement cutting-edge features within the DevOps platform.
  • Build, test, and deploy enhancements to our comprehensive toolchain framework.
  • Apply your knowledge of semantic versioning and release management.
  • Ensure a thorough understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle.
  • Break down software components into practical features, hotfixes, and bug fixes.
  • Master Git branching methodologies and their impact on the SDLC.
  • Troubleshoot end-to-end issues across pipelines, builds, packaging, and deployment, ensuring operations run smoothly.
  • Oversee the full product lifecycle to guarantee highly scalable and reliable services.
  • Conduct unit and integration testing on proposed changes.
  • Identify platform deficiencies and implement robust solutions using DevOps principles.
  • Utilize monitoring and observability tools for troubleshooting and feedback.
  • Advocate for developer and application security best practices.
  • Participate in on-call support for the DevOps platform.
  • Create support documentation and user guides for internal developers.
  • Work closely with DevOps Architects and Leads to align with product and technology strategies.
  • Stay abreast of new and emerging technologies to enhance our operations.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience as a DevOps or Systems Engineer, or a bachelor’s degree with 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in Kubernetes, including helm and Kustomize, CRDs, services, and operators; familiarity with Rancher is a plus.
  • Experienced with Docker containers, writing dockerfiles, and building images.
  • Proficient in source code management using Bitbucket (git) and GitHub, including code reviews and pull requests.
  • Experienced with build tools such as Gradle and Maven; familiarity with msbuild and dotnet is a plus.
  • Familiar with various package types and packaging tools (e.g., npm, yum/dnf, nuget).
  • Knowledgeable in scripting languages like bash, python, and YAML; familiarity with PowerShell is a plus.
  • Skilled in programming languages including Java, Go, and Groovy; knowledge of Ansible and Terraform is beneficial.
  • Familiar with databases and caches such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and Redis.
  • Experience with front-end technologies, including React JS and Solid JS.
  • Proficient in JavaScript frameworks (NodeJS, React, Angular) and Java Spring.
  • Familiar with productivity tools like Jira Software and Confluence.
  • Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with team members across various skill levels.
